Italian Sausage Penne Pasta

This time, I am sharing Italian sausage penne pasta recipe since I am craving for another pasta meal again. I was thinking to make the classic spaghetti with meatball, but I do not have most of the ingredients. Thus, I just ‘whipped-out’ and made with whatever I have in my pantry and fridge. Voila, the Italian sausage penne pasta is created. It tastes excellent and is creamy but not overwhelmingly ‘heavy’ that I can still enjoy without feeling guilty. It is easy to make and super duper fast. Oh, another added bonus, it is a big hit at dinnertime. So definitely, this recipe is a keeper.

Tip: For this recipe, if you add too much salt to the pasta when you boil them, you can reduce the saltiness by adding some milk to the dish.

Italian Sausage Pasta

Ingredients:

  • ¾ lbs of penne pasta
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 chopped medium-sized onion
  • 3 links of Italian mild sausage, remove the ‘wrap’
  • 1 jar Alfredo sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 cup chopped fresh basil

Directions:

  • Bring water to boil in a pot. Add a pinch of salt and cook the penne pasta until it is soft – usually about 10-12 minutes (depending on how soft you would like the pasta to be)
  • Simultaneously, heat oil in the pan. Once heated, put in garlic and onion. Cook until it’s a bit fragrant, then add the sausage to the pan until it is cooked
  • Add Alfredo sauce, mozzarella cheese, and stir well.
  • Drain the cooked penne pasta, add them to the pan and add the chopped basil
  • Stir well and the pasta should be ready in 1-2 minute. Enjoy!
